Abstract

The health risk analysis (HRA) estimates the danger that implies for human beings the exposition to substances present in the environment. This paper assesses the sanitary risk that would imply the consumption of fluoride-carrying water in Azul City. For a chronic exposition scenario of water consumption from 30 domestic wells, most of the city (i.e., 76.23 km2) presents risk levels that should be looked after, involving 20903 persons, out of which 1858 are exposed children. This study allowed appreciating a number of possibilities of HRA models for the assessment of the quality of water resources used for human consumption as comparedto an analysis made on the basis of the recommended levels according to the current rules.
