In some areas land routes are virtually nonexistent, and the simple roads or trails that do exist are inadequate for commercial transportation. In such areas inland waterways are extremely important as transportation routes for supplies. Inland Waterway Transport is an important mode of transportation. In fact, in most situations it has the advantage of the least cost, least energy consumption and land saving, as compared to other modes of transportation. In this work a pre-feasibility study to define a commercially Inland Water Transportation route in the Carcarañá-Tercero rivers system is presented. The proposed objective leads to define the study area as the area of influence of the system formed by the Coronda river and the Carcarañá-Tercero rivers, whose center of gravity can be located in the city of Bell Ville. Here we present a technical feasibility evaluation of a comprehensive river transport system for these rivers, with emphasis on the design of the inland waterway and transport system.
