Abstract

In the present work the development and further application of the hydromorphodynamic and spatiallysemidistributed model at basin scale named TEDRI-1D7C (Transport and Erosion-Deposition in RIvers – 1 Dimensional 7 Classes) is described. The model simulates integrally, from rainfall-runoff transformation and sediment input in a spatially-aggregated fashion at sub-basin scale to spatially-distributed propagation of discharges (liquid and solid) and erosion-deposition processes in the main stream. Particularly, along the river, the model simulates the time and space evolution of: i) liquid discharge (and related flow variables), ii) sediment transport (bed load, suspended load and total load) by fractions, iii) erosion-deposition processes and iv) riverbed sediment composition changes, in alluvial rivers with non-uniform sediments and slope greater than 0.2%. The model was calibrated with experiments performed in laboratory flumes with gravel and sand. Moreover, the model was applied in the Marea Creek basin (Chubut) to simulate extraordinary flooding events both for short and long-term. The comparison of model results with the available measurements shows that the model reproduces adequately the hydromorphodynamics in both applications.
