The natural grasslands are biomas that contribute to the biophysical sustainability of a territory. They possess the capacity to assist the demand of environmental wealths and services for satisfaction of basic necessities of the society. The expansion of the agriculture in the pampean region in the last three decades, it has replaced them mainly for the cultivation of soybean. In this work indicators were applied that valued the biophysical sustainability in the territory of two rural basins, as consequence of the decrease of the covering of the natural grasslands in the period 1976-2005. The applied indicators were good estimadores of the biophysical sustainability in the two plain basins. The substitution of the natural grasslands for the agricultural activity, it has increased the threat on the local sustainability, for the decrease of the offer of environmental services and the exposition to the risk of the natural ecosystems even present in the territory.
