Publishing Policy

From 2023 onwards, Revista Cuadernos del CURIHAM is adopting a continuous publication policy so that every article is published once it has already been approved and edited, not having to wait for the volume to be complete, this shortens the amount of time in which it is ready to be published.
This policy introduces a series of advantages not only because of the reduced period of time of the editorial process and its benefits for every participant involved, but mainly because it expedites the social circulation of the produced knowledge and promotes its use among our readers.
This form of publishing does not alter in any way the quality of the articles, which are subjected to the same process of sending, revision and approval validated by the Journal´s scientific and editorial committee.
We thank our readers and reviewers hoping these changes will imply a better use of the material published by RevistaCuadernos del CURIHAM.

Peer-review process

All articles/technical notes received undergo the following stages.

First, the papers are reviewed by the Editorial Board and only those articles/technical notes that meet the scientific and editorial standards, aims and approach of the Journal move on to the next stage.

Second, a review is carried out by the Review Board. CUADERNOS DE CURIHAM uses the single-blind peer review protocol for the evaluation of articles or technical notes. Each article or technical note is analyzed by high-level experts of recognized national and international prestige in their professional field, who recommend whether it is accepted, provisionally accepted, provisionally not accepted or not accepted.

Finally, the Editorial Board of the journal will be responsible for the final decision on whether or not to publish the article or technical note. Additionally, the authors must approve the final version of their texts.

In case of discrepancies between the reviewers’ opinions, the Editorial Board will decide whether to publish the paper or not. The results of the peer review process will be final in all cases.

Any article or technical note rejected in the peer review process will not be accepted for a new review process.

If rejection is due to form, the authors will be notified, and the article or technical note may be re-submitted to the journal.

A guide is available for reviewers to help them prepare their opinions.

Paper Classification

Article: unpublished scientific document that deals with and communicates for the first time the results of a successful research or innovation, whose contributions add to and increase the current knowledge on hydro-environmental matters. Up to 25 pages (including tables, charts and figures).

Technical Note: unpublished document that presents a review of a specific topic or an implementation of a standard technique or work derived from professional practice in the hydro-environmental field. Up to 10 pages (including tables, charts and figures).

Some papers submitted as article for the peer review process may end up being published as a technical note and vice versa. This will be done on proposal and in a process of mutual agreement between authors, the Review Board and the Editorial Board.

Autorship roles and acknowledgements

Autorship roles

The taxonomy of academic collaboration networks (CRediT) aims to give credit to every role that takes part in an investigation process and to ensure that these roles are viewed and acknowledged in the communication of results. The definition of fourteen (14) categories allows us to identify these autorship roles as subject to recovery, making them eligible for classification and reutilization in other research processes.

Cuadernos del CURIHAM considers it necessary to give visibility to the way each article´s co-author collaborates with the purpose of making the individual contribution explicit, as well as reducing the disputes between authors and facilitating academic participation. In order to achieve said purpose, Cuadernos del CURIHAM adheres to the utilization of CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) to indicate in a systematic way the type of contribution each author has made in the research process, as presented in the following items.

  1. Project management: responsibility for management and coordination of planning as well as implementation of the research activity.
  2. Acquisition of funding: acquisition of the financial support for the project leading to this publication.
  3. Formal analysis: application of statistical, mathematical, computational or other formal techniques to analyse or synthesize study data.
  4. Conceptualization: Ideas, formulation or development of general research objectives and goals.
  5. Curatorship of data: management activities to annotate (produce metadata), remove or keep research data in phases of use and reuse (including the software code writing, in which these activities are necessary to interpret the data itself).
  6. Writing, revision and editing: preparation, creation and presentation of the work published by those in the research group, specifically the critical review, comments or revisions, including stages pre and post publication.
  7. Research: development of a research process, specifically experiments and data collection/ tests.
  8. Methodology: Development or design of methodology, creation of models.
  9. Resources: Provision of study materials, reagents, materials of any kind, patients, laboratory samples, animals, instrumentation, computer resources or other analysis tools
  10. Writing – Original draft: preparation, creation and presentation of the published work, specifically the writing of the original draft (including the translation work if pertinent regarding the volume of the translated text).
  11. Software: programming, software development, computer programs design, implementation of computer code and support algorithms, testing of existing code components.
  12. Supervision: Responsibility for supervision and leadership for planning and implementing the research activity, including external tutoring.
  13. Validation: verification, either as part of the activity or separately, of the replication/ general reproducibility of results/ experiments and other research results.
  14. Visualization: preparation, creation and/ or presentation of the published work, specifically the visualization/ data presentation.

Therefore, the contribution of each of the authorships will be stated at the end of the article in a note called 'Declaration of authorship contribution', according to the taxonomy of collaborators roles (CRediT). Authorship roles must be completed in the attached file (form).

Those authors who submit material should take into consideration that said work must have been read and approved by all the signing authors and that each of them must have agreed to its submission to the journal.

1. Project management; 2. Acquisition of funding; 3. Formal analysis; 4. Conceptualization; 5. Curatorship of data; 6. Writing, revision and editing; 7. Research; 8.Methodology; 9.Resources; 10. Writing – Original draft; 11.Software; 12.Supervision; 13. Validation; 14. Visualization

Acknowledgements:

The colaborators who does not meet the authotship criteria must be included in the Acknowledgements section.

It is in this section where any support provided that is not covered by the contribution or funding sections may be recognized.

Data availability policy

Research data includes data obtained or used by researchers during the research process. These data lead to the validation of the research and the support of new knowledge. They can be physical or digital, raw or analyzed, qualitative or quantitative. Digital data can be found in many formats and can be stored on various media.

CUADERNOS DE CURIHAM requires the publication of data obtained during the research which is described in the article to promote scientific values of replication, verification, reanalysis, and reinterpretation. This requirement is established by the "New criteria of quality and relevance for the evaluation and incorporation of publications to the Basic Nucleus of Argentine Scientific Journals" (RESOL-2019-1183-APN-DIR#CONICET) based on Law 26,899.

The research data of the articles accepted for publication in CUADERNOS DE CURIHAM must be stored, curated, and published in the RDA-UNR Academic Data Repository. Each data publication has a unique DOI identifier along with the corresponding citation. Sensitive and Confidential Data Policy must be verified in case of limitations hindering data sharing.

In order to facilitate the work of curation and publication of the research data, the RDA-UNR provides documentation and a team of curators who help to meet the requirement described here. You can consult how to start using the repository and request a virtual meeting with specialized curators.

The RDA-UNR complies with international FAIR principles allowing data to be found online along with its permanent location on the web through its DOIs. The repository enables data description to understand how it has been obtained and how can be downloaded. In this way, data stored in the RDA-UNR can be integrated with other data and exchanged with other systems to optimize its reuse.

Once the data is published, it must be cited in the bibliographical references of the article. Similarly, in the event that data from other sources have been used in the research itself, these must be cited in the references.
